Today we celebrate International Women’s Day. Depending on your source, we are either doing well or have a long way to go to achieve an equal society. However, whatever your opinion, it’s a great day to celebrate the role of women within society and, importantly, to embrace diversity in all its forms.
As professional communicators who work for a strategic communications consultancy which is run by two women, we’ve seen a dramatic and welcome shift over the years. There are more women than ever in the C-suite; it’s rare to ever see “he” used as a default in copy; and the companies with whom we work are making genuine and heartfelt efforts to make their services and products as inclusive as possible. The more diverse we are, the better work we will produce, the more competitive we will be, and more representative of clients and consumers we serve.
