Emma Smith

CEO

Emma has spent over 25 years in Asia counselling clients across the region, defending and building the reputations of some of the world’s largest and most complex brands and advising on complicated transactions and issues. An expert in crisis and issues management, change communications, C-Suite advisory and stakeholder engagement, she has led crisis, internal, external and brand-building campaigns for many global corporations.  She was the former APAC CEO of Weber Shandwick, before founding her own firm, which she sold in 2013 and bought back in late 2019.

She is a board member of PRHK, a former board member of IABC HK and sat on IABC's International Advisory Committee. She is a regular judge of PR Awards and her work has won numerous awards. She is a guest lecturer to MBA and EMBA students on crisis and communications and is a non-executive board member of two Hong Kong-based charities.

Kelly Johnston

COO and General Manager,
Southeast Asia

Kelly specialises in advising clients in complex and highly-regulated industries on strategic communications challenges and issues. She has more than 16 years’ experience in communications across a range of corporate, financial and consumer sectors in Asia Pacific and the United Kingdom.

Prior to Sandpiper, she held senior roles with agencies Baldwin Boyle Shand in Singapore, and PPR in Australia. Kelly has also worked in-house for Emirates Airline; energy company Ausgrid; and food and beverage multinational, Lion, managing corporate and public affairs. She started her career as a journalist for Radio New Zealand before working for Bell Pottinger in London. She is the recipient of multiple Asia Pacific industry awards for her client work and is a Board Member for PRCA Southeast Asia. Kelly is certified in investor relations through the Investor Relations Society (UK), and a qualified Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) auditor for sustainability reporting.

Natalie Siu

Hong Kong

Natalie has over 17 years of experience in journalism, corporate communications, and reputation management.

Her experience spans a range of industries, including advising global and regional financial services, professional services and technology companies. She has hands-on experience in counselling firms on issues and event-driven situations. She is also a specialist in the legal sector, advising international and local law firms on strategic profile-raising and thought leadership campaigns.

Prior to joining Sandpiper, Natalie held senior roles with global communications consulting firms as well as in-house roles at AIA Group and Zurich Insurance. She began her career as a documentary journalist with Radio Television Hong Kong. She is a trilingual speaker fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin with a good command of Taiwanese.

Sarada Chellam

General Manager,
Singapore

Sarada specialises in brand and health communications and provides strategic counsel for clients working across a range of industries from healthcare to travel and hospitality. She has more than 15 years’ experience as a PR practitioner and journalist and was previously Senior Vice President with global PR firm Ketchum in Singapore for almost 10 years. Her experience includes work with hotels, airlines, airports, and consumer brands. Sarada regularly conducts media and crisis training programmes with clients across the region. She began her career as a broadcast journalist with Bloomberg TV in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

John Russell

Managing Director,
China

John has over 30 years of international public affairs and strategic communications experience in various parts of the world. He has been in China for 15 years.

Formerly in a regional role at Weber Shandwick, John has built formidable teams working on reputation and advocacy campaigns, public affairs, business development, and crisis and issue management.​

John is a member of the multinational business advisory committee of APEC China Business Council and on the advisory board of the China Business Leaders’ Forum, linked to the School of Management, Renmin University. Sandpiper North Head is strategic counsellor to the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCCPIT) Shenzhen and the Global Times Business Leaders’ Forum. In 2008, he was adviser and trainer at the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in preparation for Japan’s chairmanship of the G8.

Before China, he was in Brussels as CEO of Weber Shandwick’s operations for six years and head of public affairs across Europe. For ten years from 1989, he was executive director at the American Chamber to the European Union in Brussels.


Jasmine Hogg

Jasmine has helped organisations around the world prepare and respond effectively to crises and hostile campaigns for more than 20 years..

She is a specialist in identifying reputation risks, and works closely with clients in highly regulated industries, developing strategies to protect them from public and private attack.

Prior to joining Sandpiper, Jasmine was Director and Head of Reputation Risk for Apollo Communications, where she was an expert adviser to senior executives on how to publicly position their companies to achieve desired results. This included during the 2017-18 Royal Commission into Misconduct in the Banking, Superannuation and Financial Services Industry and the 2018-21 Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety.

A former journalist who worked in the political and press office of the Canadian High Commission in London during the 9/11 crisis of 2001, Jasmine has also held senior advisory roles at several multinational corporations and industry bodies in Australia and Canada, including Macquarie Bank, Chubb Security and Pratt & Whitney..

Philip Channon

CFO

A seasoned finance and operations professional, Phil has spent 30 years in Asia working with international communications networks overseeing operations across Asia, Europe and Africa.

Phil has extensive experience growing profitable communications consultancies and managing multi-market businesses to maximise operational efficiencies and build cost efficient structures. This includes 17 years as Regional Chief Financial Officer, Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa with the world’s largest public relations firm, Edelman, where he helped grow the region’s fee income more than 18-fold during his tenure with the firm, and as Chief Operating Officer, International for the world’s second largest independent marketing and communications agency WE Communications, overseeing operations for 12 offices across 8 markets.

He has managed more than 20 agency mergers and acquisitions during his career in markets as diverse as Australia, China, India, South Africa and the United Kingdom.


Elizabeth Chu

Deputy General Manager,
Singapore

Elizabeth has more than 10 years’ experience in the communications industry in Singapore, Hong Kong, and China, advising clients primarily across the financial and professional services sectors. She specialises in corporate reputation management, content development, media and stakeholder engagement, as well as issues preparedness and management. Prior to joining Sandpiper, Elizabeth was leading professional and financial services portfolios at other firms, working with global and regional insurers, asset management firms, management consultancies, law firms, investment and private banks, media organisations, education providers, start-ups, and property developers.

Robert Magyar

Managing Director, Sandpiper Health

With two decades of experience in government relations, public affairs, and public relations campaigns across the globe, Robert is an experienced advisor and effective project manager.

In the past 12 years, while managing Sandpiper North Head, he has been supervising issue campaigns across Asia, focusing on topics such as sustainability, rural development, and poverty alleviation. He also leads the life sciences team at North Head, including work conducted for the pharmaceutical industry, medical device makers, hospital management groups, and insurance companies in China.

Prior to Sandpiper North Head, Robert worked as vice president in the corporate communications and public affairs practices of Weber Shandwick in Tokyo for five years and in Beijing for two years.

Robert is a native of Hungary, speaks English, Japanese, French, and Hungarian, and is learning Mandarin. He holds degrees from Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo, Japan and Georgetown University in Washington DC, USA. He is also the author of the chapter: “Public Affairs in China: At a Crossroads?” in the book “Public Affairs: A Global Perspective” published in 2016.


Ed Brewster

Director,
New Zealand

Ed most recently worked in-house at Huawei UK from 2011 until end 2020, where he held several roles including Director of Communications managing all media relations for the UK. Subsequently he was promoted to managing the corporate affairs for the UK business including government relations, public policy and media relations. In this role he also joined the senior management team. In 2019 he took on a new position leading one of the three international media hubs for Huawei Group globally and led the team responsible for the company's relationship with international media. He has visited China over 30 times including a two-month secondment to Shenzhen.

Prior to Huawei he was Group Head of Media Relations at Prudential plc for 3 years, where he led the team responsible for the company’s financial media and listed communications. Previously he was the first Head of Media for Three, the Hutchison Whampoa mobile business. He started his career at Brunswick in London before joining Hutchison, which was one of his clients.

Emma Huang

Director

Emma Huang is a Director based in Sandpiper’s Beijing office. As a seasoned corporate communications professional, Emma specialises in corporate communications, financial communications, reputation management, media relations, crisis and issues management, and brand positioning.

Prior to joining Sandpiper, Emma worked as the Director of Communications for NBA China where she was responsible for C-Suite communications, crisis management, marketing partnership communication, and the organisations’ CSR activities. She has also worked for a number of international PR agencies in both China and Canada where she provided strategic counsel on external and internal communications to clients from various industries such as financial services, professional services, healthcare, education, food and retail.

Joyce Li

Director

Joyce has worked in branding, international relations, communications, integrated marketing, and public relations in China and USA for the past 15 years, serving both in-house and in agency roles.

At Sandpiper North Head, she is leading the strategic communications team and healthcare practice. With her extensive policy knowledge and hands on experience in strategic consulting and day-to-day public relations operations, including crisis management, Joyce has been a trusted advisor to many big brands, including Intel, Tencent, Swire, Pfizer, Merk, and Roche from a variety of industries.

Joyce had worked in Washington D.C. for ten years as a communication professional and policy analyst, leading a variety of international projects in media outlets and international NGOs. She has a double Master Degree from the University of Oregon, majoring in International Studies and Mass Communications, and a B.A from Peking University in China.


Kim Spear

Deputy General Manager,
Hong Kong

Kim has advised Asian and international clients on communications campaigns in the region for nearly 20 years across a range of complex situations including M&A, issues and crisis, leadership transitions, corporate restructuring and stakeholder engagement.

Prior to joining Sandpiper, Kim worked in senior roles in Beijing, Singapore and Bangkok before moving to Hong Kong in 2014 where she spent seven years with a multinational public relations agency serving clients in the financial and professional services sectors – bringing their communications strategies to life and helping them navigate the complexities of the region.

Her experience includes advising AXA Insurance on the full acquisition of its Chinese partner, advising a HNW insurance broker through its management buyout and new brand rebuild, creating award winning thought leadership for AIG, managing the reputation of a large, private equity firm through several highly contentious portfolio company issues and C-suite narrative communications for Fortune 500 companies.

In the course of her career, Kim has media trained numerous executives in the region and provided public affairs counsel, rebranding strategies, stakeholder communications and outreach to clients such as: Alvarez & Marsal, AMP Capital, Bank of  America, Baring Private Equity Asia, Champion Petfoods, McDonald’s and Nokia Siemens Networks.

Rob van Alphen

Director

Rob is the Director of Strategy and Innovation at Sandpiper based in Singapore. He has over a decade of agency and in-house experience helping B2B and B2C market leaders in Europe, the Middle East and Southeast Asia move to a more relevant and effortless digital and customer experience..

Prior to joining Sandpiper, Rob van Alphen was a key member of the digital strategy team at a leading global technology agency, helping companies move to a more relevant and effortless digital and customer experience.

As a member of the executive team at the largest luxury retailer in the Middle East he established and led digital communications for a portfolio of 80+ fashion and lifestyle brands including Gucci, Armani and Bloomingdale’s.

In his 12-year career in the industry, Rob van Alphen has provided strategic advisory, digital marketing, branding and communications services to companies like Stratasys, Reynaers Aluminium, Trouw Nutrition, Mastercard, Toyota, Coca-Cola and Johnson & Johnson.

Saskia Kendall

Director

Saskia is a policy and communications expert with around 20 years of experience. Based in Singapore, she has worked on numerous award-winning APAC initiatives in the healthcare, technology, and sustainability sectors. She advises clients on how to navigate and shape policy, build impactful relationships, develop thought leadership programmes, and raise their profile. Before joining Sandpiper, she was head of press and public affairs at a leading and influential healthcare think tank, The King’s Fund and worked in the UK Parliament.

Serena Cui

Director

Serena has 15 years’ corporate communication and public affairs experience in China. She has spent most of her consultancy career with global agencies such as Weber Shandwick, Edelman, and APCO. Before moving back to China in 2009, Serena started her career in New York, working in the banking sector and shifted to the World Bank Group in Washington DC as a consultant.

Serena has a solid understanding of China’s media and political landscape, and the challenges faced by both multinational companies in China and Chinese companies expanding overseas. She has exceptional contacts with influencers, and in-depth knowledge of current regulations and market dynamics. She has acted as a trusted advisor serving multiple MNC and governmental clients on brand building, reputation management, issues and crisis management, and campaign execution.

Some of Serena’s clients include Amazon, Apple, OCIMF, Total, Ericsson, Accenture, SABIC, Vale, UAE Embassy to China, Philippines cabinet delegation, and many others.

Serena obtained her master’s degree in Public Administration with a major in Economic and Financial Policy Management from Columbia University. She is a native speaker of Mandarin and fluent in English.


Winston Choo

Winston is a Director based in Sandpiper’s office in Singapore. He has over 20 years experience in the communications industry, with expertise spanning corporate and financial communications, issues and reputation management, strategic media relations, investor relations and stakeholder communications.

Prior to joining Sandpiper, Winston spent seven years at a multinational agency, where he developed and managed communications programs for clients including MNCs, listed and non-listed.

Winston has consulted for blue-chip corporate names across myriad sectors and industries. He has also handled communications and stakeholder outreach programs for public listings and M&As in Singapore.

Zhou Zhou

Director

Zhou Zhou is a medical doctor with more than 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry. Since joining Sandpiper North Head in 2020, Zhou and his team have counselled many of the world’s largest healthcare businesses. Their experiences range from major international industry associations such as PhRMA and RDPAC to Fortune 500 corporations, including eight of the world’s top 10 pharmaceutical companies, such as AstraZeneca, Bayer, Merck, Roche, Sanofi, MSD, etc.

Prior to his work at Sandpiper North Head, Zhou served as the Director of Investments and Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) for 10 years at Shanghai Industrial Investment (Holdings) Co. Ltd. and Shanghai Pharmaceutical Group, two Chinese industry leaders. Before joining the pharmaceutical industry, Zhou also led healthcare investments at Sunshine Insurance Group.

Zhou obtained a bachelor's degree in clinical medicine from Hengyang Medical College (now called the University of South China) and an International Master of Business Administration (IMBA) from the University of Hong Kong’s Faculty of Business and Economics

Archanaa Raja

Associate Director

Archanaa Nivruthaa Raja is an Associate Director supporting Sandpiper’s E3 and Corporate clients regionally. Archanaa has more than 14 years of experience in both agency and in-house roles in Singapore and recently relocated to Brisbane, Australia. Prior to joining Sandpiper, she spent close to six years at Sembcorp Industries, a leading energy and urban solutions provider in Singapore, where she led communications for all its business functions across Southeast Asia as well as managing the company’s portfolio of CSR and community investment projects in Singapore aligned to the Group’s adopted Sustainable Development Goals.

Prior to this she spent a decade in two consultancies in Singapore, providing counsel to clients and driving numerous successful local and regional communications programmes across a diverse range of sectors, including aviation, automobile, FMCG and financial services. Archanaa also has experience supporting listed companies handling investor relations and was involved in market transactional deals, including IPOs and merger and acquisition projects

Charlotte Whale

Charlotte has over 20 years’ experience as a journalist and producer in international newsrooms including the BBC in London and Al Jazeera English in Doha, Qatar. Eddie Morton

Associate Director

Eddie is an Associate Director for Sandpiper in Australia. He has been in media and communications across the Asia Pacific region for over a decade.

After journalism, he led communications for Members Health, the strategic political advocacy vehicle for Australia’s health insurance industry.

With an intimate knowledge of healthcare supply and funding, statistical trends and analysis, he oversaw nationwide stakeholder and government relations, policy, advocacy and communications.

His work helped the health insurance industry overcome a challenging media and regulatory environment, navigate rapid government reform brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, and usher landmark changes to how Australians’ access and fund private healthcare services every day.

Hetty Musfirah

Associate Director

Hetty has more than 14 years of experience in the media and communications field, providing counsel in strategic messaging, content development, media relations, social media management and stakeholder engagement

Prior to joining Sandpiper, Hetty was in the public sector working with senior management and government leaders to promote economic growth and enhance Singapore's reputation as a competitive global business hub. Her experience includes spearheading communications and engagement strategies on trade issues in APAC and global markets, and with industry players from a diverse range of sectors including technology, health and energy. They include Google, Shopee, Becton Dickinson and DuPont. She led campaigns on safe management measures targetted at businesses amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, and has worked closely with Singapore's labour movement(NTUC), trade associations and NGOs on developing communication plans.

As a former senior journalist with Singapore’s largest content creator and national media network, Mediacorp, Hetty reported for its TV, radio and print news platforms, and brings with her years of experience in interviewing key opinion leaders, story-telling and in video production. She is a recipient of the prestigious UK Chevening scholarship.

Mark Johnson

Associate Director

Mark Johnson is an Associate Director based in Sandpiper’s office in Singapore. He has over 15 years experience in developing and managing communications and public affairs programs for clients across the Asia Pacific region.

Prior to joining Sandpiper, Mark spent three years co-founding his own agency in Asia, specifically in Indonesia and Singapore, helping companies navigate through the intricate and highly nuanced region. Prior to this, he worked at a multinational advocacy, public affairs, and communications agency. He has provided high-value strategic communications, public relations, and public affairs counsel, alongside crisis communications, to companies like Masdar, AWS, Stripe, Bli Bli, Audi, DHL, RB, Jungle Ventures, and Mars.

In his 17-year career in the industry, Mark has also worked with various companies on strategic communication campaigns, public affairs and policy communications, and stakeholder communications and outreach.

Rong Li

Associate Director

Rong Li is an Associate Director based in Sandpiper’s Beijing office. She has over 15 years of experience in developing and managing communications programs in China.

Prior to joining Sandpiper, she spent over three years managing the communications for a Chinese B2B software company, where she was responsible for their PR strategy development, content management, CEO branding and crisis management

Before moving in-house, Rong spent ten years working in several PR agencies. Her past experience was centred around managing strategic communications for B2B companies by helping them to achieve an excellent corporate reputation within the complex and ever-changing business environment in China. Previous clients include NXP, Rio Tinto, UBS, Rockwell Automation, Stora Enso, CFA Institute, NYSE, CLSA, China Investment Corporation, Temasek, Nomura, and HangLung Properties.


Vincent Pung

Associate Director,

Vincent is an Associate Director, Healthcare & Life Science at Sandpiper, where he specializes in supporting healthcare MNCs and providing counsel on corporate communications and policy work. He has demonstrated experience working across various healthcare sectors and has extensive knowledge of the pharmaceutical, information technology healthcare and pathology industries.

Before joining Sandpiper, Vincent consulted leading IT healthcare companies across Asia and Australia, working with a range of clients such as Sengkang General Hospital, Parkway Hospital, Alfred Hospital, and South Australia Pathology.

His passion for healthcare and extensive experience in the sector has supported a range of activities at Sandpiper, including executive and internal communications, developing corporate engagement strategies and policy research. Vincent’s extensive expertise on China’s healthcare landscape has proved valuable to a range of clients such as AstraZeneca, Gilead Sciences, MSC, PhRMA, RDPAC and Roche.

Mark Jackson

Senior Consultant

Mark has nearly 30 years’ experience in communications, working in a wide range of sectors including financial services, technology, healthcare, logistics and many more. During his career, he has worked with some of the world’s most iconic brands including Google, IBM, American Express, Phillips, Microsoft and Coca-Cola.

He is fluent in all aspects of communications: PR, content creation, corporate social responsibility, employer branding and internal communications, crisis management, stakeholder engagement and sponsorships.

With experience working in Europe, the US, Middle East and North Africa, he has an understanding of communications across the world. His experience in Asia has focused both on helping Western companies build their reputations in the region, particularly in China, and helping Chinese companies engage more effectively with Western audiences and stakeholders.


Anu Noto-Menon

Digital and Content Strategist

An experienced digital and content marketer, Anu works with Sandpiper’s clients across Asia Pacific to provide expert counsel in digital, social, and content strategies and campaigns as well as online reputation management.

Prior to joining Sandpiper, Anu was Regional Digital Marketing Manager for global food company, Kerry Foods, for APMEA, leading integrated brand campaigns across Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Africa. She has also held senior B2B and B2C marketing roles for financial data and AI company, FinQuest; LinkedIn marketing company, Black Marketing; and digital media trading platform, Brandscreen. Through her previous work with DMG media as a content marketer she has extensive knowledge and connections across the marketing and advertising technology sector in Asia Pacific.

Her forte is helping organisations to execute strategic and scalable integrated digital marketing plans both at pan-regional and local levels to drive business objectives such as establishing digital transformation roadmaps and building a strong brand identity.

Damon Evans

Damon Evans is a Senior Consultant based in Sandpiper’s office in Singapore. He has worked as a journalist, editor, and consultant in the energy sector for over 15 years.

During his career, Damon has worked with clients, both strategically and commercially, to engage audiences with high value media content. He has also provided corporate advisory and intelligence services to help clients gain competitive advantages in Asia markets.

Damon has established a strong network of contacts across Asia Pacific’s energy and media landscape. This has helped him deliver unique insights on big policy issues, market trends and high-profile debates within the region.

Damon’s experience covers fossil fuels, nuclear, renewable energies, power, technology, finance, geopolitics, as well as energy transition and carbon abatement.

Jingting Peng

Account Director

Jingting is based in Sandpiper’s Hong Kong office. She has experience in developing and driving communication efforts both in-house and at agency within the Asia Pacific region.

Prior to joining Sandpiper she was a communications specialist for the investment bank CLSA and credit rating agency Moody’s where she managed communications activities in support of a wide spectrum of stakeholders across all business lines. Prior to this Jingting was a senior consultant with a multinational agency, managing and advising financial and professional services firms such as Alvarez & Marsal, AXA, Eurazeo, and Permira across APAC.

Jingting also spent five years working in news and entertainment networks in China and Hong Kong, including Phoenix TV, China Radio International and Time Warner

Ka Wai Li

Ka Wai Li is based in Sandpiper’s Hong Kong office, bringing over a decade of experience of public relations to her role as Account Director. Having worked both in-house and agency roles, she has honed her skills in forming and executing media campaigns, investor outreach, issues management, event management and IPO communications.

Prior to Sandpiper, Ka Wai held roles in international agencies, where she managed public relations for numerous listed companies. She has previously worked with a vast range of clients, spanning the finance and consumer brands sectors, with past clients including Fidelity, China Life, Minsheng Bank, Yum China and Longfor Group. Ki Wai has guided critical IPOs in her market and specialises in the areas of investor relations and IPO communications. She further developed her industry expertise at in-house roles with two locally renowned companies, where she oversaw corporate communications.

Louise Humphreys

Account Director

Louise is a communications and public affairs specialist with more than 25 years extensive working with multi-national companies across a range of sectors –largely financial services, technology, healthcare, travel and government.

Prior to joining Sandpiper, Louise has held senior in-house roles with large multi-national companies as well as other PR agencies and has devised and implemented successful thought leadership, internal and external communications programs for a broad range of companies..

Based in Sydney Australia, she previously lived in Asia for over 10 years where she headed the public affairs section of the Australian High Commission in Singapore and later managed the Asian in-house public relations activities of global investment firm Russell Investments. .

Since joining Sandpiper, Louise’s clients have ranged from small Australian start-ups to large international fintech and insurance organisations, each with their own communication challenges and unique briefs. .

Monica Xu

Account Director

With over 10 years’ experience in brand communications and content marketing in both in-house and agency roles, Monica has worked across sectors including healthcare, food and agribusiness, manufacturing and education.

Prior to joining Sandpiper, Monica held senior positions in global communications consultancies, providing communications counsel to multinational clients across APAC, including Johnson & Johnson, Gilead, Grundfos and the University of Sydney. In particular, she has a deep understanding of China’s complex healthcare industry – working with biopharmaceutical clients on corporate communications, brand narrative development, innovative disease education programs, executive profiling and crisis management.

Having started her career as a journalist before moving to an online news platform, Monica has a deep understanding of the media landscape and trends and believes that effective storytelling needs to combine unique perspectives with creative formats.

Samantha Siu

Account Director

Samantha is a corporate and public affairs specialist with 10 years' experience working in inhouse and consultancy communications roles in Hong Kong and Singapore.

Prior to joining Sandpiper, she led the public relations and social media strategy of a wellness tech start-up in Hong Kong and Singapore, focusing on digital content creation and audience engagement. She also held senior corporate communications roles for two of the largest public service providers in Hong Kong, acquiring a breadth of experience in media relations, public affairs, stakeholder engagement, as well as crisis and issues management.

Vic Man

Account Director

Vic brings more than a decade of experience in corporate communications, journalism and video production to Sandpiper’s Hong Kong office. He specialises in strategic media relations and crisis communications and has served various renowned international and local institutions in both consultancy and in-house roles. Vic worked closely with senior management in multiple aspects of corporate communications during his time at Hong Kong Hospital Authority and Link REIT, where he led and participated in managing confrontational and challenging situations such as COVID-19 outbreaks in wards and strikes.

After obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Communication from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Vic started his career as a TV journalist covering news in Hong Kong and the Greater China Region. With a strong interest in visual storytelling, he spent a year producing a range of documentaries, promotional and disease awareness videos while he was running a video production house.

Vic is also a non-executive board member of a registered charitable organisation with a mission to improve mental well-being in the community.

Benjamin Cheng

Group Finance and Operations Director

Benjamin is an accounting, operations and finance professional with more than seven years professional experience in financial reporting and advisory. Prior to joining Sandpiper, he was the Senior Manager for financial reporting for a non-bank financial institution. Prior to this he led the audit of various multinational corporations listed on the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong, the Bursa Malaysia, and Singapore Exchange during five years with Ernst & Young and KPMG.

With a passion for technology and innovation, Benjamin oversees the identification and implementation of new technologies for Sandpiper across the region to optimise business and client service efficiencies.

Benjamin holds a Bachelor of Business and Commerce Degree specialising in Accounting & Economics, Monash University, Australia. He is a Chartered Accountant of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) and a member of CPA Australia.

Melvin Lum

Group Finance Controller

Melvin is the Group Finance Controller based in Sandpiper’s office in Singapore. He has over 15 years of experience in financial controllership and stewardship across various specialist roles in both local and regional capacities in the communications industry.

Prior to joining Sandpiper, Melvin spent a year and a half with BCW Group as finance director for Singapore and Malaysia, helping to turn around and grow the business exponentially. Preceding this, Melvin was also with Publicis, DDB Worldwide, Lowe & Partners and Young & Rubicam covering finance and accounting areas such as key clients management, commercial, Sarbanes-Oxley lead, financial planning & analysis, reporting and operations. He has also provided high-value strategic and financial support on commercial dealings, procurement engagement, internal control & compliance and HR, Administration & IT oversight.

Sam Sun

Finance Director

Sam has been with Sandpiper since 2011 and is in charge of finance, administration and oversees the IT for Sandpiper Beijing.

Sam graduated from Renmin University in China, and he has more than 20 years’ experience in finance and audit.

Zohra Juveriya

Regional Finance Manager

Zohra is a Chartered Accountant with a decade of experience in Internal audit, Fraud Investigation, SOX & AML compliance, and Finance & Accounting. Prior to joining Sandpiper, Zohra spent five years at Prudent Business Consultants an accounting firm where she handled end-end Finance function for clients in the Fintech & Retail industries. She also spent five years with Ernst & Young in Internal audit & Fraud Investigation.

Zohra has extensively worked with companies across various industries including Pharmaceutical, Manufacturing, IT, Infrastructure development and Educational Institutions.

Brooke Montaperto

Group HR & Talent Manager

Brooke has 12 years’ experience in HR, marketing and talent sourcing roles in Asia Pacific, North America, and Europe. She is passionate about corporate culture, employee experience, and building effective teams. Prior to joining Sandpiper she led HR and operations for an environmental company and design agency as well as the marketing, agency and creative practice for a leading recruitment firm in Hong Kong.

Prior to this Brooke worked in the media and music industries for close to a decade, including at Warner Music and EMI, in PR, publicity, marketing and artist relations in Asia Pacific and London.

Sophie Li

HR Manager

Sophie is the HR Manager for Sandpiper. She has more than 10 years’ experience working in HR , internal communications, specialising in talent acquisition. She also has experience in marketing and events, supporting clients in healthcare, finance, manufacturing, and foreign delegations in Mainland China.

Prior to joining Sandpiper, Sophie worked in various HR roles for Interpuplic Group and Qualcomm. Sophie is currently based in Spain and speaks Chinese, English and Spanish.

Juliet Carter

Regional Marketing Manager

Juliet is the Regional Marketing Manager of Sandpiper. Prior to joining Sandpiper, Juliet has worked in both B2B and B2C marketing across a range of industries including Luxury Goods, Retail, FMCG, Building and Construction, International Trade, and Shipping for New Zealand companies and multinational corporations.

Juliet has a demonstrated career history of developing and implementing effective marketing programmes utilising omni channels to recruit and retain customers. She has led and collaborated in many complex marketing projects, working with internal and external stakeholders, to deliver overarching business objectives.

Fredrik Dittlau

Creative Director

A dynamic and highly creative Creative Director based in Singapore since 2012. Originally from Sweden and with extensive experience working with high-profile publishers and agencies in London and Dubai, Fred’s work has been recognised with 20 international design awards.

His creative approach to digital and print projects is to deliver groundbreaking, audience-focused design at the heart of everything. He began his career as a journalist and layout artist for a leading newspaper in Stockholm before relocating to London to work for the Financial Times. In 2001 he moved to Dubai where he was responsible for more than 15 monthly consumer magazines as well as a book division.

In 2012, Fredrik arrived in Singapore where he joined a content agency as creative lead, responsible for design, photography and video, working across 360 marketing campaigns, print, web, mobile, and social media.

His portfolio includes a broad range of clients, including Singapore Tourism Board, Qatar Foundation, Electrolux, Taiwan Tourism Bureau, Audi, Citroen, Hong Kong Tourism Board, IKEA, Emirates Airlines, SingPost, SingTel and Economic Development Board of Singapore, among others.

Du Quan

Director

Du is the Director of Sandpiper’s Digital and Design team based in Beijing. He has over 10 years’ experience in digital consulting - strategy planning and UX/UI. He has worked with a range of clients, including SVW, Porsche, L’OREAL, SKII, HUAWEI, and IBM. He is adept at analysing business needs and identifying and mitigating potential risks. He excels at solving problems that require logical reasoning, creative thinking, quantitative aptitude, and the ability to untangle complex issues.

He began his career as a journalist and layout artist for a leading newspaper in Stockholm before relocating to London to work for the Financial Times. Du graduated from the Tianjin University of Commerce and has bachelor’s degree from Université du Québec à Montréal. He is a native Chinese speaker and fluent in English.

Jane Ramdan

Senior Video Editor

Jane is a Senior Video Editor based in Sandpiper’s office in Singapore. She has over nine years of experience creating video projects for clients across the Asia Pacific and internationally. Before joining Sandpiper, she spent nine years at video production agencies and freelancing in Asia, helping companies bring their ideas to life. She has provided vital creative concepts and storyboards and led video editing projects for companies like The Economist, McCorkell, Aries Gold, and INSEAD.

Jane has also worked with various companies on rebranding projects, explainer videos, and helped to create compelling narratives.

Sam Powney

Editor

Sam Powney is an editor based in Sandpiper’s Hong Kong office. He has over fifteen years of experience in crafting and editing reader-friendly content in a wide range of fields.

Prior to joining Sandpiper, Sam spent eight years at The Bank of East Asia in Hong Kong, looking after the bank’s client-facing communications, retail banking material, macroeconomic reports, and more. He has a background in languages and has previously worked in publishing and education.

Annie Wang

Senior Account Manager

Annie has a wealth of international experience across the corporate sector and brings a deep understanding of global media and digital channels. She is trilingual in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.

Annie is responsible for content development, media relations, digital and social communications, strategic planning and coordinating the day-to-day activities for clients.

Prior to Sandpiper, Annie worked at The Hoffman Agency and prior to that at Golin Hong Kong, where she advised on pan regional briefs involving offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Indonesia and Vietnam. Clients included OGX, FOX, Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Lenovo Data Centre, to name a few.

Annie’s experience includes creating corporate content and running brand building events for Deliveroo and consumer and corporate seasonal content for Uber Eats to promote a new way of dining, i.e. CNY, Christmas, Summer.

Apurva Bharade

Senior Account Manager

Apurva is a Senior Account Manager in the Financial Services team in Sandpiper’s office in Singapore. She has extensive experience research analysis, campaign planning, execution and evaluation and is highly focused on ensuring that business plans and research translate to communications..

Before joining Sandpiper, Apurva was at Edelman Singapore where she led local and regional communications for financial services clients like AXA Investment Managers, World Gold Council, United Overseas Bank (UOB), Charles Schwab, and Société Générale. She headed planning, strategy and conceptualization of communications plans – effectively managing and communicating with all key stakeholders – various market teams, clients and business stakeholders, to deliver meaningful communications outcomes that are closely tied to business success. Apurva also has extensive experience in integrated communications for clients across a range of different industries like consumer tech, tourism and energy.

Apurva graduated from the Singapore Management University in 2019 with double majors in Corporate Communications and Marketing.

Beatrice Hua

Senior Account Manager

Beatrice is a Senior Account Manager based in Sandpiper’s Singapore office. She has eight years of experience in healthcare, brand and corporate communications.

She has advised major pharmaceutical companies, charities and health services groups on patient engagement campaigns, internal communications, corporate communications, social media marketing and influencer engagement.

Prior to Sandpiper, she held roles at consumer agencies in Singapore, where she launched award-winning influencer campaigns, ran always-on press offices and developed content strategies for clients to support their business objectives.

She also placed Silver at the Singapore Young Lions Competition 2022 organized by PRCA Asia Pacific.

Bryan Shen

Prior to joining Sandpiper, she was with the Singapore Health Promotion Board where she was in the CEO’s Office and the main liaison for international engagements with country Governments and multilateral organisations. She has held various positions in research institutions and had experience providing research analysis and content development counsel to organisations such as the World Health Organisation, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Lien AID and AVPN. Elaine was also a recipient of the OCBC Local scholarship.

Janet Yu

Josette Yu

Josette has developed hands-on knowledge in both public affairs and corporate communication. She has also gained a solid understanding of the political-economic environment and media landscape in China. Prior to joining Sandpiper, Laveen spent three years at a multinational agency providing key support and counsel to clients based out of Singapore and across the region. Natalia Hau

Natalia Hau is a Senior Account Manager based in Sandpiper’s office in Singapore. She has 9 years of experience in developing key business accounts as well as providing strategic communications & technical counsel for clients across the Asia Pacific region.

Prior to joining Sandpiper, Natalia built her career in sustainability with MNCs such as VRM Group and Neste Oyj, where she specialized in supply chain sustainability and biotechnology solutions in both agriculture and renewable energy industries. She has previously worked for luxury retail houses such as Prada Group and DFS Group in marketing & communications roles as well as brand strategy stints at Landor & Fitch and Ogilvy & Mather. Additionally, Natalia is a certified ISCC and SA800 auditor.

Petrina Loh

Senior Account Manager

Petrina has close to 10 years of experience in healthcare communications, in various disease areas such as vaccines, immunology, women’s health, urology and oncology, and other communication programmes spanning from external and internal communications, events, and corporate profiling

Petrina has also worked with cross-functional teams to drive various local, regional and global communications initiatives including media engagement, stakeholder management, internal communications and content development for media, digital and clients' internal platforms.

She has worked in the healthcare, corporate, lifestyle and luxury sectors, and graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Master of Marketing Communications and holds a Bachelor of Business Management from Singapore Management University.

Reena Mavjee

Senior Account Manager

Reena is a Senior Account Manager for Sandpiper based in Singapore specialising in Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) advisory and communications, as well as investor relations.

She works across a range of sectors in Asia Pacific including energy, environment, infrastructure, technology and financial services, helping to develop robust and credible ESG and sustainability frameworks, strategies, implementation programmes, communications and thought leadership.

Prior to joining Sandpiper, Reena was an advisor to an ESG and climate data platform. She also worked as an investor relations and financial communications consultant at Citigate Dewe Rogerson in London. Her clients have included EDF and Richmont, and MegaFon, among others in the energy, infrastructure, and financial sectors.

Reena is certified in ESG Investing through the CFA Society UK and has achieved the University of Cambridge certificate in Business Sustainability Management. In addition, Reena holds the International Certificate in Investor Relations through IRPAS.

Amir Sadiq

Account Manager

Amir is an Account Manager supporting our Financial Services and Insurance practices in Singapore. Prior to joining Sandpiper he spent four years at an insurance trade magazine, leading the editorial team for the Middle East edition of the magazine while providing editorial support to the Asia Pacific edition. He has worked with companies within the (re)insurance industry across both regions to craft thought leadership articles for print and online.

Cadence Hong

Account Manager

Cadence is an Account Manager based in Sandpiper’s office in Singapore. With over two years of experience in the communications industry at Sandpiper, she supports a range of clients in the technology, financial services, professional services, wealth management and corporate sectors. Highly passionate about creating content and delivering compelling strategies, Cadence constantly seeks for new opportunities in high energy environments. Prior to joining Sandpiper, GU worked as client manager at KAPLAN. GU holds a master’s degree in Educational Studies from the University of Glasgow.

Jingyi Lee

Account Manager

Jingyi is an Account Manager for Sandpiper in Singapore. Her experience spans across public relations and social media marketing. At Sandpiper, Jingyi supports clients across the technology and financial services sectors.

Prior to joining Sandpiper, she was at Redhill Singapore, where she managed social media content for clients and worked with tech start-ups. She has also had experience working at Klareco Communications (formerly Bell Pottinger), where she developed creative campaigns for clients including the Health Promotion Board and Prudential.

She holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) from the National University of Singapore, where she majored in Communications and New Media.

Kaixuan Liu

Account Manager

At Sandpiper, Kaixuan provides public affairs services to several world leading manufacturing and energy companies, as well as European business associations. His work includes tracking and analysis of China’s domestic policies and foreign relations, with a focus on environmental, energy, and circular economy issues. Kaixuan also works as a communication specialist in content development as well as strategy crafting and implementation.

Before joining Sandpiper Kaixuan worked at BCW Beijing providing strategic communications services, including content management, public opinion analysis, and crisis training to top tier technology and commodity trading companies.

Kaixuan has a PhD in contemporary history from Sciences Po (Paris) and is skilled in crafting effective evidence-based methodologies for research, analysis, and planning. He has published in academic and general public journals in English and French.

Louis Pang

Digital Marketing Manager

Louis is a Digital Marketing Manager based in Sandpiper’s office in Singapore.

Prior to joining Sandpiper, Louis served in a sports association for 6 years where he was the lead for digital implementations and initiatives. With a keen eye for all things digital, he has delivered live and social content-centric campaigns supporting internal and commercial stakeholders to drive engagement and conversion objectives.

Mark Wang

Account Manager

Mark Wang is an Account Manager for Sandpiper North Head. He possesses expertise in digital media operations and content development., and provides services to client accounts spanning a range of sectors, including government, finance, energy, education, and manufacturing.

Holding extensive experience in crisis management and public relations issues management., Mark also provides crisis monitoring and analysis, drafts press releases and provides other relevant PR writing services.

Mark holds a master’s degree in International Relations and a bachelor’s degree in Literature from the University of Sheffield.

Account Manager

Qianzhou Lou is an Account Manager based in Sandpiper’s office in Beijing. He has 6 years’ experience working in government consulting, public policy, strategic communications, and project management.

Prior to joining Sandpiper, he worked for a government consulting company, and also worked within the technology, healthcare, and aged care sectors. He has provided high-value strategic communications, public relations and policy research work to companies such as Kuaishou, Yimutian, and Taikang, and has previously published works on the development of China's media industry, and China's judicial reform.

Samuel Tan

Account Manager

Samuel is an Account Manager in Sandpiper’s Singapore office. Prior to joining Sandpiper, Samuel spent over two years at Spurwing Communications where he worked with clients in the agriculture and healthcare sectors. There, he was involved and led projects in areas relating to corporate profiling, media relations, stakeholder communications, and content development.

Samuel has worked on award winning campaigns and with clients that are both for-profit and non-profit alike. Clients he has worked extensively with include Bayer (Crop Science), Corteva Agriscience, DSM, Medtronic, The Power of Nutrition, and WWF (Food Practice).

Areas of expertise: agriculture, food and nutrition, ESG sustainability, stakeholder engagement, digital thought leadership, content and toolkit development.


Tian Zhang

Account Manager

Tian Zhang is an Account Manager based in Sandpiper’s Beijing Office. He has significant experience developing, managing, and executing communications programs for financial institutions across the Asia Pacific region, specifically Mainland China.

Prior to joining Sandpiper, Tian spent four years at a multinational agency helping foreign companies looking to tap the Chinese market, craft localized messaging, build thought leadership and promote brand awareness in a unique and highly regulated media environment. He has provided high-value strategic communications, public relations, investor relations and social media support to companies like Morgan Stanley, Oaktree Capital, State Street, MSCI, Huatai Securities and China Life Insurance.

Earlier in his career, Tian worked in China Daily’s Beijing Office as a digital editor, which means he can provide clear and pragmatic advice, and is conscious that the messaging is often only one part of the bigger picture.

Tiara Robyn Chew

Account Manager

Tiara is an Account Manager based in Sandpiper’s office in Singapore. She has close to seven years of experience across Corporate, Consumer and Tech communications in the Asia Pacific region.

Prior to joining Sandpiper, she served as the PR and Communications Manager and Brand Collaborations Lead for a Singapore-head quartered start-up. She also held roles at global and regional PR agencies, overseeing everything from strategic planning, to cultivating media and influencer relations, organising events, developing employer branding content, securing brand partnerships, managing stakeholders and managing crises and issues. Her past clientele includes Unilever, Disney+, Hilton, Inmarsat Aviation and ZALORA.

In her free time, she is also a calligrapher and lettering artist, who has designed for brands like Moët Hennessy Diageo, foodpanda and OGX Beauty in the past.

Yuhan Wang

Account Manager

Yuhan Wang is an Account Manager based in Sandpiper’s office in Beijing.

Yuhan has over six year’s experience in Public Relations and communications, namely in the automotive, beauty and entertainment sectors. Prior to joining Sandpiper, Yuhan spent close to five years working with automotive clients including Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar, Land Rover, Chevrolet and Denza.

In her 6-year career, Yuhan Wang has also worked with 3C and beauty brands, supporting the client with brand & media communication, strategy and copywriting. Yuhan’s areas of expertise include automotive PR, 3C PR.

Zara Thornton

Account Manager

Zara Thornton is an Account Manager based in Sandpiper's office in Singapore. She specialises in corporate and financial communications.

Prior to joining Sandpiper, Zara spent over four years at Prosek Partners, an integrated marketing & communications firm, in London. She predominantly advised clients in the alternative investments and private markets sectors on their media relations, communications strategy and stakeholder engagement, as well as having experience in the broader financial services sector. During her career, Zara has also worked with various companies on several M&A transactions and IPO announcements.

Areas of expertise: financial communications, media strategy, reputation building and management, thought leadership and media relations.


Zhengnong Li

Account Manager

Zhengnong Li is an Account Manager for Sandpiper, bringing an extensive background in trade and policy from a range of projects in China and throughout Asia. At Sandpiper , Zhengnong’s responsibilities include research and policymaking in the Chinese healthcare sector, producing intelligence reports across an extensive range of topics and managing various policy projects.

Prior to joining Sandpiper, Zhengnong oversaw project management for a trade-focused consultancy that specializes in the delivery of EU external policies in the field of sustainable investment and development. He has worked on several EU-funded projects including capacity building, trade facilitation and international cooperation.

Zhengnong’s extensive experience with trade and policy projects has led to a developed skillset of policy research and analysis, stakeholder relations and communications, as well as event organization. His experience has informed his understanding of the national policy and regulatory landscapes across the Asian and European markets.
