- Organizes the formulation of national health policies, draft laws and regulations, policies, and plans for the development of health services
- Coordinates and advances medical and health system reform
- Organizes and deepens the comprehensive reform of public hospitals, promote the separation of management and operation, and improve the modern hospital management system
- Organizes the formulation of national drug policies and national essential drug systems, conducts drug use monitoring, comprehensive clinical evaluation, puts forward suggestions for national essential drug price policies, and participates in the formulation of the national pharmacopoeia
