  • Researches new technologies, methods and standards for sampling and testing; conducts experimental research on the causes of serious adverse reactions
  • Dictates medical device standards
  • Manages the release of biological products
  • Conducts technical evaluation of cosmetics safety
  • Plans, researches, prepares, standardizes, and distributes national reference materials
  • Verifies bacterial, viral, and cell strains used for production
  • Collects, identifies, preserves, and manages bacterial, viral, and cell strains
  • Rears, breads, and supplies experimental animals; manages quality testing of experimental animals and relevant products
  • Manages inter-laboratory comparison, proficiency testing, assessment and evaluation for food and drug testing institutions
  • Provides postgraduate education and training
  • Trains and provides technical guidance on quality sampling and testing procedures for relevant food and drug institutions
  • Carries out international exchange and cooperation in food and drugs sampling and testing
  • Completes other tasks assigned by the NMPA
