Functions：

  • Formulates and implements trade and economic plans and policies concerning Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) and the Taiwan region
  • Leads trade and economic consultations with the relevant departments in HKSAR and MSAR and authorized agencies in the Taiwan region
  • Works with relevant departments on Closer Economic Partnership Arrangements (CEPAs) consultation and implementation 
  • Coordinates management of major trade and economic issues with Taiwan, and drafts plans on direct trade with Taiwan
  • Takes the lead in handling multilateral and bilateral trade and economic cooperation with Taiwan
  • Manages and gives guidance on Taiwan, coordinates and manages Taiwanese private investments
