Functions:

  • Draws up regulations and detailed implementation for transactions, liquidation, registration, and deposits for securities under the supervision (excluding unlisted treasury bonds and corporate bonds)
  • Examines institutions in charge of securities transaction, liquidation, registration and depository; supervises the business activities of such institutions
  • Examines the constitutions, business rules and categories of listed securities of securities exchanges; analyzes quotations of securities transactions domestically and internationally
  • Supervises the information dissemination of domestic securities and futures markets

The Department of Market Supervision is comprised of the following components: the Comprehensive Division, the Division of Transaction Supervision, the Division of Settlement Supervision, and the Division of Information Supervision. The major functions of these departments are as follows:

  • The Comprehensive Division: undertakes administrative and secretarial affairs inside the Department, as well as comprehensive coordination, research, and supervision of other divisions, as well as internal management
  • The Division of Transaction Supervision: drafts regulations, detailed implementation rules and other administrative rules regarding supervision of securities transactions; inspects and provides guidance for pertinent organizations; examines the establishment of securities exchanges and supervises their business activities; examines the constitutions, business rules and categories of listed securities of securities exchanges; conducts market research and investigation; oversees the planning and development of the securities markets
  • The Division of Settlement Supervision: drafts regulations and implementation rules for transactions, liquidation, registration and deposits of securities; examines and supervises relevant institutions; examines the constitutions and business rules for institutions responsible for securities liquidation, registration and deposits
  • The Division of Information Supervision: analyzes quotations of securities transactions; monitors and mitigates abnormal fluctuations, cooperates with relevant departments, e.g. the enforcement bureau, to investigate and combat over-speculation;  supervises information dissemination for domestic securities and futures markets
