  • Formulates and implements development strategies, programs, and policies for trade and economic cooperation with relevant countries (regions)
  • Sets up bilateral and regional inter-governmental trade and economic (joint) commission meetings
  • Organizes bilateral or regional trade and economic negotiations
  • Handles major issues in economic and trade relations
  • Supervises the implementation of multilateral and bilateral economic and trade agreements signed by foreign governments with China, and conducts negotiations with foreign parties
  • Assists Chinese companies in their efforts to access foreign markets
  • Regulates trade and economic activities with countries without a diplomatic relationship
