It exercises trial rights independently of other government agencies. It is also the highest supervising organ over the trial practices of local people\u2019s courts and special people\u2019s courts at various levels. It reports to the National People\u2019s Congress and the NPC Standing Committee. The National People\u2019s Congress has the right to appoint and remove the president and vice presidents as well as members of the trial committee of the Supreme People\u2019s Court.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Functions and Rights of the Supreme People\u2019s Court (SPC)<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Conducting trials for the following cases: those the SPC deems under its jurisdiction;
